From Service to Success: Sharing My Story in Providence

On August 21, 2026, I had the honor of serving as a featured speaker at the Eighth Annual Rhode Island Civilian Service Member of the Year Ceremony in Providence. The event recognized Veterans who have successfully transitioned from military service into civilian life and provided me with an opportunity to share my own journey—from adversity and foster care to military service, education, becoming a published author, and finding new ways to use my experiences to help others.

Standing before hundreds of attendees and sharing that story was an experience I will never forget. Below are a few moments from the ceremony and the Providence VA Regional Office's “Good News Story,” which highlighted my journey and the continued support that helped make this opportunity possible.
